Our New Curate!

I am thrilled that Bishop Robert has offered Jeanette the opportunity to serve her title curacy hare at St George’s. In doing so he believes that there is a lot she may learn from us – and I believe that we will also learn from this experienced lay minister once she is ordained.

She will be ordained deacon in the Cathedral on Sunday 1st July at 6.30pm – please put the date in your diaries now, and let’s give her a big St. George’s welcome!

Jeanette will begin her 3 - 4 year long curacy on 1st September before she returns to Kirk Michael. She will offer up to 2 days each week, plus Sundays. Occasionally she will be joined by her husband Steve, a Warden and Reader at Kirk Michael, and sometimes she will worship with him there. Please pray for them both at this exciting time.

Jeanette writes:

I moved to the Island nearly 10 years ago with my husband Steve and our youngest son.  After taking early retirement from my post of head teacher at Michael School 5 years ago, due to ill health, I felt that God had a new plan for my life.  As I recovered, I felt him calling me towards Ordained ministry and having nearly completed part-time training here on the Isle of Man I am delighted to be offered the opportunity to continue this at St George’s, Douglas.  I am looking forward to joining the staff team in September and getting to know everybody.
