Welcome
to Heather
Hi,
I’m Heather Paisley and I am a trainee Reader on placement with St
George’s. That doesn’t mean that I’m just learning my letters, “Reader”
is what the C of E calls a Licensed Lay Minister. I have been doing the
course since September 2010 and am enjoying it immensely and learning
such a lot. God willing, I am to be accepted as a Reader and ‘licensed’
in July this year.
Although I was born
within ‘the sound of Bow Bells’ and so am a real Cockney, we moved to
Cumbria when I was 8, so my formative years were spent in a very similar
community to that of IOM. For family reasons, we went back South when I
left school, and I lived in Milton Keynes for 25 years. During my
working life ‘across’, I spent 9 years as a Press Officer, mostly with
Sealink, and after that worked for the NHS as a Manager for almost 15
years, interspersed with other posts such as at the Department of Health
in London.
I have lived on the
Isle of Man for six years and I love it here. I live in Glen Vine and,
after five years as the Practice Manager of Palatine Surgery, I started
my new job in the Clerk of Tynwald’s Office last December. I am really
enjoying it and am very proud to work there. When I get time, I love
cooking, cross-stitch, singing and dabbling with watercolours
(enthusiastic if not skilled!) Since MGP last year I have been a
Marshal at ‘Ballascary’ and am looking forward to my first TT.
Thank you for such a
warm welcome to St George’s and I look forward to learning a lot from my
time with you. |
